The name of this organization is the Montgomery County Young Democrats.
The purpose of this organization is to encourage participation of young democrats in the political process; develop leadership skills; involvement in programs to improve voter education; contribute to the well being of the community at large and to further the goals of the Democratic Party.
Membership shall be open to open to those persons who believe in and adhere to the principles of the Democratic Party, who are registered to vote in Montgomery County, Ohio and who meet the qualifications set forth in the By Laws.
For all purposes, fiscal or otherwise, the year shall begin on April 1 and conclude on March 31 of the following calendar year.
The Montgomery County Young Democrats will be affiliated with the Ohio Young Democrats and may seek affiliation with other recognized Young Democrats or related organizations which have similar purposes.
The officers of this organization will be duly elected and consist of President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Recorder, Treasurer, and Sargent at Arms.
All officers and candidates for office must be paid members in good standing at the time of their nomination and election and remain so through their term of office, as well as meeting any requirements set forth in the By Laws.
The Executive Committee will consist of the elected officers, the immediate past President, the Parliamentarian, and the chairs of the standing committees.
The Executive Committees duties will be to: (a) formulate and propose policies for the organization, (b) to fill vacancies and (c) make recommendation to the organization.
All Standing Committees and their duties shall be duly listed in the By Laws.
Other committees shall be appointed on an ad hoc basis as needed. Their duties and duration of existence shall be set by the President, with the approval of the Executive Committee as set forth in the By Laws.
There will be at least six (6) general meetings each year to be held at a time and place to be set by the Executive Committee. Special meetings may be called by the President, with the permission of the Executive Committee. Notices of special meetings must be sent out at least seven (7) days in advance.
Amendment(s) may be proposed verbally or in writing at any general membership meeting or presented in writing to the secretary. Notice of such amendment(s) will be submitted in writing to the general membership at least fifteen (15) days prior to the scheduled date of the meeting at which said amendment(s) are to be voted on.
This constitution may be amended at any general membership meeting with a quorum, by two-thirds vote.
