Dear Young Democrat,

Here is the latest in important information from the Montgomery County Young Democrats.

First, the Montgomery County Young Democrats will next meet at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 13 for a happy hour at Sidebar at its soon-to-be new location on Fifth Street in the Oregon District.  (In April, we will be attending the Frolic for Funds – see below.)

Second, the 2010 convention of the Ohio Young Democrats will take place this Saturday, April 10 in Cleveland, Ohio.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Gen Murphy.  Some of us may spend the night in Cleveland for the convention and some of us may make the trip a 1-day affair: be sure to let Gen know your preference.  By the way, MCYD will help cover the cost of any Montgomery County Young Democrat who wishes to attend the convention.

Third, the Montgomery County Democratic Party will hold its annual Frolic for Funds fundraiser this Tuesday, April 6 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Dayton Convention Center.  Tickets are $125 (or $100 for MCYD members), so please be sure to come out and see Governor Ted Strickland and other important Ohio Democrats.

Fourth, the Montgomery County Young Democrats will be assembling a team to walk and run in several of the great 5k races that take place throughout Montgomery County during the summer months.  While we complete the courses, we’ll also show our support for all of the great Democrats (like Karl Keith – see below) who are up for election this year.  If you are interested in participating in these races with us, please contact me.

Fifth, Karl Keith, the Montgomery County Auditor and friend of Montgomery County Young Democrats, is running for re-election this year.  Become a fan of Karl Keith on Facebook, won’t you?

Finally, congratulations to those who were elected and re-elected officers of the Montgomery County Young Democrats at our March meeting.  Sam Braun will continue to serve as our First Vice President; April Carter will still keep order as our Sergeant-at-Arms; and Gen Murphy will join the executive board as our new Secretary.
